Candice Tiffany Gordon
Born and raised in the District of Columbia, Candice developed an appreciation for the arts at a young age. Her mother regularly took her to shows at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and from this early exposure to stage work, in addition to training in classical dance, a discerning eye, respect for discipline, and creative instinct were cultivated. These characteristics, coupled with an innate proclivity for performance, serve as the foundation for her personal artistry.
While earning a degree from the School of Communications and Theater at Temple University, Candice exhausted her electives on acting and dance classes. In her junior year she was awarded a scholarship to study abroad in London where she enrolled in a theater class under the auspices of Kenneth Rea – a renowned professor at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama. As part of the curriculum, Candice was required to see a different play each week and submit a written report. One evening, after seeing a moving performance of Blood Brothers, she decided that she also wanted to connect with people through performance. In her senior year at Temple, Candice was offered a scholarship to train with Philadanco’s second company under the direction of Donald Lunsford. Eager to get to New York City she left the program after only a few months and headed for the big apple where she landed her first professional gig with Royal Caribbean Productions. During the eight-month contract she performed numbers from popular musical theater such as Tommy, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, and Hair. Musical theater was fun, but singing had never been an interest and Candice was more drawn to straight plays, especially dramatic material. After a stint in Los Angeles she returned to New York and began landing roles that commanded a broader range of emotion. The opportunity to portray characters with more depth together with the demands of working in the theater helped Candice to find her artistic voice. Today she is a well-rounded performer with excellent vocal, physical, and emotional stamina ready to take on any acting challenge. Candice Tiffany Gordon has performed on stage and in film & television. She has been cast in the award-winning Law & Order franchise, various independent films, and a number of promos and print campaigns. Frustrated by the limited and often one-dimensional roles available to people of color, she turned to writing in 2019, determined to create richer, more authentic narratives that capture the full humanity of African Americans. |
